Created a template to standardize Bitcoin transcripts
fixes #457
@kouloumos, can you please review this PR.
You commented on the Google document I shared with you on this issue's conversation, and I will address the comments here:
- You commented that you were interested in different types of transcription formats that I researched on.
These are the formats:
Verbatim Transcription:
Description: This format captures every word spoken, including filler words, pauses, and non-verbal sounds.
Usage: Commonly used in legal settings (e.g., court reporting) and qualitative research to maintain complete fidelity to what was said.
Relevance: While this format provides maximum detail, it may be overwhelming for readers of Bitcoin transcripts, where technical clarity and conciseness are preferred.
Clean Verbatim (Edited) Transcription:
Description: This style removes filler words (e.g., "um," "uh"), false starts, and repetitive phrases, focusing on providing a cleaner, more readable transcript.
Usage: Used in professional settings, such as podcasts or technical talks, where clarity and readability are priorities.
Relevance: This is the format currently used in Bitcoin transcripts, and it strikes a balance between accuracy and readability, making it ideal for our context.
APA (American Psychological Association) Style Transcription:
Description: APA Style emphasizes clarity and organization, often used in academic settings. It uses clear speaker attributions, timestamps, and footnotes for additional context.
Usage: Academic research and psychological interviews.
Relevance: The focus on clarity, organization, and speaker attribution makes this style a useful reference for Bitcoin transcripts structured formatting approach.
SRT (SubRip Subtitle) Format:
Description: Used for video subtitles, this format timestamps each sentence or section to synchronize with audiovisual content.
Usage: Videos, films, and subtitles.
Relevance: SRT is more focused on audiovisual syncing.
- You also commented that existing markdowns on the Bitcoin transcripts repo had been prefixed with metadata.
So, I indicated in the transcript template I created that the metadata has been generated automatically for each transcript, and there is no need for contributors to worry about it.
But, I added a field called slides to the metadata, and I want to suggest if it can be prefixed for transcripts that has slides.
Also, your comment on footnotes and annotations has made me not to add them to the transcript template.
Although, a lot of the things I have written on the transcript template I created have been in use on Bitcoin transcript. I want special attention to be given to the presentations and slides aspect so that it can be implemented for transcripts that has slides.
