Setting up system for evaluating reverse dependency issues with removed/deprecated code

Basically a ticket to evaluate whether we can set up a mechanism assessing issues with downstream applications requiring BioPerl.

Can you explain this a bit more? Does this involve finding applications that make use of BioPerl and testing them to catch failures when downstream users upgrade their version of BioPerl?
