Chemical Concentration increased in disease states

Open mmayers12 opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

This issue is in reference to DrugMechDB conversion to biolink, see issue #314

Similar to issue #316, Chemical ELEVATED_IN Disease is present in DrugMechDB. The meaning of this does not necessarily imply causality. Instead it is simply seen that this chemical has an increase in the presence of this disease. Not sure if this could potentially be a marker then?

  • porpholobilinogen ELEVATED_IN Acute intermittent porphyria
  • protoporphyrin IX ELEVATED_IN erythropoietic protoporphyria

@vdancik do you have any comment on this?

What is the status of this?

In the chemical WG: lets look at this in the context of qualifier/modifier work and see what to do.

I think in this case, we could have a molecular phenotype to disease association where the increased amount of the chemical could be a phenotype of the disease, depending on the provenance of the actual statement.

Another representation would be something like this:
subject: chemical
subject_aspect_qualifier: abundance
subject_direction_qualfier: increased
predicate: associated_with
object: disease

@vdancik - do either of these suggestions make sense to you?
