filter widget for multi-sample data sets

Can I see different color distributions for each sample when I filter a multi-sample data sets?

The problem is how to design this widget. We could go with several violin plots, but then on which plot do we filter? Note that visualizations of distributions split by some class (discrete value) are already implemented in box and distribution plots. Need to get some mileage (HHMI including) to decide what to do here.
