bioconda-recipes Roadmap / Todos

This is a continuously updated list of Todos. If you have a suggestion, comment to the issue. We will update the list if the suggestion fits in. Please note that none of the items will be guaranteed to be implemented. If you want to make sure something is done, consider to contribute the code to Bioconda, any help is welcome! Of course your contribution will be listed, and reflected in future publications about Bioconda.

If you want to implement an item, please post it in this thread and I will mark it in the list so that we don't duplicate work.

[ ] Add a function to our bot that automatically notifies upstream authors of packages upon inclusion of their software (if hosted via github) in bioconda, via a github issue. That issue should contain suggestions for adding a badge to the readme, and some general info about bioconda.
[ ] In line with above function, create another issue in such repos that notifies the upstream authors whenever a recipe contains a source patch, suggesting them to include those changes in their upstream code.

For macOS users, the one critical item that needs to be listed on a roadmap is Bioconda support for native osx-arm64.

ETA July 2024: It was never listed on the roadmap and progress was not communicated clearly by the core cabal, but Bioconda now supports Apple silicon. 🎉
