Cannot import accounts scanning QR codes from Google Authenticator
as of today...
Hi, @Remigius2011
It doesn't support such feature. And I probably won't continue adding new features for it anymore.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Then you should perhaps change the imo misleading shop description in the app store:
2FA Authenticator supports multiple ways to easily setup accounts:
- Scan QR Code
- Read from QR Code image
(...)
It seems to scan the QR codes, but then nothing happens, even if only a single code is selected for export. If this project is - as you hint - in maintenance, you should be fair enough to mention this at least in the readme of the github project, which would allow to decide whether to buy your product or not based on (more) complete information.
Hi, @Remigius2011
"Scanning QR Code to setup account" and "Migrating accounts from another Authenticator" are two very different features. These QR Code types are not the same.
I don't think there is misleading description in App Store page.
Well, I was mislead. Scanning QR codes to add entries from an existing authenticator is a common feature, so you might still consider clarifying this.
I think putting a line like "This app does not support account migrating between Authenticators" in the App Store description is kinda weird. But yes, it wouldn't hurt to be more explicit. Thank you.
Maybe you couls just hint that it does not understand QR codes from Google Authenticator. On the other hand, maybe looking at a decoded QR code from qooqle Auth will immediately tell you how to decode it and allow you to add this feature with little effort - given the whole QR code reading workflow is already there.
