Best Bill , it is possible to run this version on a raspberry pi 3 ? and also with the latest version of the raspcam 8 megapixel camera ?

I've got it running on a RPi 3 with Raspbian Jessie and the "old" Pi camera. So the first part of your question gets a "yes", the second I don't know, but should work at least with the resolutions available on the older cam.

I have a mixture of the old (5MP) and new (8MP) cameras running on RPI3 so yes to both.

@billw2 Isn't this issue solved? May I suggest adding a label such as "for reference" in case this is open because of that?
