minimize to tray

I'm user of i3 and av-caster don't minimize when pressing the minimize button on the window's bar. Ideally, the window should minimize to systray.

i could look into this - but it is almost certainly a JUCE issue if it is expected behavior

minimize to tray feature is in the works but currently av-caster does not minimize to the tray - but it does minimize to the taskbar in most WMs

Thanks!

i3 don't have a taskbar, unfortunately. I'll be looking forward for av-caster minimize to systray!

what does your window manager normally do when you minimize a program that is not intended to minimize to tray - like a text editor or web browser - btw there is a nifty program called kdocker that you can use to force almost any GUI program into the tray

I have never done that on i3 because the buttons to do so don't exist in the titlebar, though i3 actually can minimize the window to its titlebar, however av-caster appears as a floating window, and if I remember correctly, it had no titlebar.

A temporary solution: move the window to an empty workspace, I have some extra workspaces assigned to NumPad buttons for this kinda stuff.

there is no problem hiding or minimizing the window - the OP was suggesting an icon on the tray or 'notifications' area to allow showing it again and to indicate that it is still running

That's a good idea imo :+1:
