PiTFT50 V1 DPMS Support?

Just curious if the PiTFT50 V1 supports DPMS or not? I'm using it with OctoDash and it doesn't ever seen to power off the screens backlight when it goes into sleep mode. If there's a special way to enable that I would love to know how.
