Hardware issue - D3 led is ON, screen is off and large chip gets burning hot

I got new TFT24 display and tried connecting it via RS232 cable to brand new SKR mini E3 v2 board.

However when I do this:

• D3 led comes ON
• Reset button works and when I press it, it resets printer
• screen and backlight is off
• large chip in the rear get burning hot

Seems like a hardware issue. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot it?

PS. Tried connecting it via EXP 3 -> EXP 1 via ribbon cable, - same thing, D3 led comes ON and then chip starts heating up extremely quickly, also SKR board LED dims indicating short or something bad on the LCD board

Looks like a burnt processor. You could resolder the new processor. However, there is currently no downloadable bootloader for your display (I couldn't find it). You'd have to get it from someone with a working display. Unfortunately, BTT does not provide a bootloader.
