Test xcon in multiple browsers and address any compatibility issues

I have done a quick test: this works in FF. This was not an exhaustive test but all methods appear functional.

Another quick test: all methods appear to function as expected in Safari.

FYI I wasn't able to get the extension to work on Chrome but I was able to include the dist file in as a chrome snippet and that worked

@Claire I believe the Chrome store has updated some rules which has deprecated some of the existing extension's functionality. I will be looking into this sometime into the near future. Thanks for the report!
