paste the selected block

Is it possible to paste the selected block and insert it into the doc?

For example, I have the text below:

1234
1234
1234

By pressing ALT, I selected the second coloum

2
2
2

And I paste it into the first line between char 3 and 4, I was expecting:

12324
12324
12324

However, the text area changed to:

1232
2
24
1234
1234

I cant reproduce this. Any more information on this?

I get this too. I can send a video of it happening if it helps.

I notice it happens when cut and pasting between different documents.

Thanks @ZGainsforth. I was trying to paste columns from excel into atom and it wasn't working. I pasted to atom (new, empty document), and then used this package to copy into my main document's column and it worked.
