BBB version: BigBlueButton continually evolves. Providing the version/build helps us to pinpoint when an issue was introduced. BigBlueButton Server 2.4.4 Mediasoop
Desktop (please complete the following information):
- OS: Chrome OS
- Browser Chrome
Just trying to narrow this down -- is it reproducible using https://test.bigbluebutton.org/?
As I've mentioned internally, error 1138 is NotReadableError which usually is a capture problem between the browser and the OS.
So, alongside trying to reproduce in test.bigbluebutton.org, please:
- Attach Chrome version
- Try to reproduce in https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/getdisplaymedia/
@GhaziTriki ping
:)
I'm getting the same error 1138 when screen sharing my full screen in chrome Version 99.0.4844.74 (Official Build) (x86_64). No problem when I share a particular window or chrome tab. Test on Big Blue Button test server and got the same error. I tested in: https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/getdisplaymedia/ and got NotReadableError when attempting to share full screen. No error when sharing a window or chrome tab.

OS (and OS version)?
I thought that I responded to this. But I don't see it in the thread. Mac OS. 11.6.5

It's not the same thing, then. The OP is talking about a Chromebook, not MacOS.
For your MacOS issue, refer to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1307502.
@prlanzarin Checking with users that reported it, this week.
Dear all,
one of our clients (university) has the same error while starting screen sharing.
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC Operating system version: 10.0.17763 Microsoft EdgeVersion: 101.0.1210.53 (Official Build) (32-bit) (base is Chromium)
The error also occurs here: https://test.bigbluebutton.org/
In FireFox all is fine.
Only the screen share for one window throws the error. Full screen or browser tab are ok! (see also here: https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bigbluebutton/issues/14514#issuecomment-1076572268)
Just tested here: https://webrtc.github.io/samples/src/content/getusermedia/getdisplaymedia/
Screen sharing for one window throws the error.
@relecand NotReadableError usually is a capture problem between the browser and the OS.
Since it happens with a base sample, I recommend looking at the browser's issue tracker as it is not directly related to BBB.
Mac OS 11.6.5
