Support Debian 9 installation

This issue is a placeholder for this request. The focus is on Ubuntu 16.04 (2.2) and Ubuntu 18.04 (2.3), but Debian is a close cousin and it may be possible to support it in a future release of BigBlueButton.

Hi, what's the progress on this issue? I would love to be able to easily install BBB on debian instead of ubuntu.

No progress yet. We're currently working on moving to Ubuntu 20.04. One restriction we've had is Kurento, which is tied to very specific versions of Ubuntu. In 2.5 and 2.6 the plan is to replace Kurento with MediaSoup and moving to other distributions will be much easier.

Do you happen to know if anyone has run BBB on trisquel?

I'm aware that the FSF runs BBB so I imagine they may be using trisquel instead of ubuntu?
