New feature: Disable Jiggler automatically
I'd love to see a feature that automatically disables Jiggler after certain conditions are met. Here are some ideas:
- After time has passed (8 hrs)
- Outside of set hours (work day)
- After sleep
I realize this isn't being actively developed, but I still wanted to log this idea somewhere in hopes that someone else could see it and get excited enough to do it. 😉
Note that there is already a timed quit feature, which seems to be your first suggestion. The other two are good ideas that would make a nice addition to the app.
That would absolutely satisfy the first bullet based on the way I describe the feature, but it's not quite what I meant. I'd like a preference to disable Jiggler after time has passed whenever it's enabled. Sort of a... "Always Timed Quit after X minutes" option.
Thanks for your quick response!
I see, OK.
I think a better way to say the first suggestion is "once started, stop jiggling after x minutes until a jiggling condition starts again".
The idea being: "I want my computer to stay awake for at least 30 minutes, but not more than 2 hours."
What @wfaulk said is exactly right.
+1 to auto disable timer. Would like the option to jiggle for e.g. 20 minutes of idle then stop and let the PC sleep. This is for when controlling the sleep timeout is not an option.
Is there a workaround that combines Timed Quit and Time between jiggles?
Once the machine is in idle state I would like to have couple of jiggles before the Jiggler allows the machine to go to sleep OR cancel the jiggles if the user moves the mouse/keyboard. Basically If the machine is set to go to sleep for 5 minutes and the Jiggler jiggles every 4.9 minutes that will keep the machine awake forever. However I would like to allow machine to go to Sleep if I don't move the mouse for 15 min (i.e. to allow 3 times Jiggler to do its magic).
Are there any workarounds in mind?
The problem is that I've received so many different variations on this sort of request, and they can't all be implemented – the user interface would just explode in complexity. At this point, all I can say is: it's open source, do what you like with it. I realize that's not a great solution for most people, but I don't really see a better one.
+1 for "only during specified day of week/time of day" (i.e. automatically active 9-5 M-F). I wish I knew how to develop mac apps, would've been happy to help implement
It sounds like a lot of people are asking for a scheduler. I've opened issue #20 to address this.
