App-prefs url schemes don't work from safari?

Are links to App-prefs (and the sub menus for all the apps) disabled in browsers? All the other url-schemes seem to work fine with <a class="button" href="shareddocuments://">go to settings</a>. Is apple preventing this because its a security issue?
