Chosen colour not persisted.

I'm sure this used to work with a flat colourpicker, but I've got clickoutFiresChange set to False and I'm setting the colour of the colourpicker using Javascript when I load the page. Selecting the same colour repeatedly in the palette repeatedly fires the change event, then clicking out of the colour picker reverts the colour back to the initial colour prior to the one I set on page load.
