Old issue in bugzilla
There's a really old issue about this package in the r project tracker

In 2008 someone (probably Prof. Ripley) thought it might be user error. I have found that quite a few of those old issues actually still are present today, so I'm noting it here. It will probably be closed on the R tracker.
