Problems with the linux version

Open t0m4s opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Hi ben,

I'd like to use Blux but I'm having troubles trying to get it working (openGL as been deactivated in the preferences, the last version of BluxWebViz is present in ~/Documents/Blux).

Using the appImage Linux-64bit Stable 1.2.0 :

  • the 3D view always shows a white window

Building from source (git clone --recursive https://github.com/benkuper/Blux.git) :

  • I can finally (sometimes) get the 3D view to show the unity engine but it only works when this window is outside of the main interface. As soon as I place this window inside of Blux main UI, it gets back to a white window.

Using you appImage or my build, I also do have a lot of random bugs. By looking at your videos tutos, it's obvious that something is going wrong with my configuration.

Any idea ? What kind of infos could I provide to try and help fixing all of this mess ?

Config : fresh install of Xubuntu 22.

Edit : didn't changed anything and now your appImage systematically crashes when I try to open the 3D view.

yep never tested on linux. When changing from outside window to internal panel, it is weird indeed, but if you save a file and reopen it with this layout, it will reload the view and should work

Yes, it reloads the view as it was. But the software is still not usable for me. If I do add a fixture, it will never appear in the 3D view even after hitting F5. And as I said, their are lots of other bugs (shortcuts working from time to time, Blux crashing while loading a project...). In fact I haven't been able to really test your software.

Could be interesting if you could find somebody else to try your software using linux to see if the problems comes from my config.

Thanks for the answer.

Just tested with a live linux mint USB key : same behavior :-(.

Hello Ben, I've just discovered all your software and compliments! I like to try a different approach for lighting, I've the same issue on linux so the workflow with moving heads is quite limited, unless I can test it with a real rig. Any plan to implement the MVR import from Blender? regards

@qlcplusme I think this is not the right place for this, this issue is about something else
