OkC stars going away... bring them back?
OkC is a Binary System, like most these days. Pardon my astronomy joke. This was submitted by "A Google User" to Google's abysmal issue tracker, so I moved it here:
"OKC, in the last few hours, went from five stars to binary stars - you either like someone, or you don't. This makes me nuts. I used stars to 1) indicate that I've viewed someone, so I don't turn into a stalker and 2) flag people (e.g. homophobes). I've already bitched to the admins, but maybe you could take your magical extension and correct their stupid mistake? By the way, I plug your plugin on my profile (sspurfer). I've already had a bunch of people thank me for recommending it. It and you are awesome. L"
My edited response: "I might be able to restore the functionality for plugin users, but I can't know if it's possible until they release this new "feature" to my account -- they're doing a slower rollout. If you'd be willing, I'd love a screenshot of it ( [email protected] )."
You should be able to at least store the stars locally and do what is (probably) the new behavior which is thumbs up for 4+, thumbs down for 3-.
That's true, though I'd like to avoid storing too much data locally if possible. My hunch is that OkC will only update the UI for this feature... in the past they've kept functionality in place, but just removed the UI for it (like the notes feature). Hopefully that's the case.
I haven't seen this yet (as of 6/15), is non-stars still rolling out?
I still haven't seen it either. @vectorjohn , might you be in a A/B test group or something? Do you still have non-stars?
It's definitely stars only now. Not sure if they kept the 1-5 in the data or not. I don't see it at first. Would be great if we did bring back stars if they showed up in lists like labels do.
