I've been using fisacourt as a use case. I believe it should be able to replace the existing git logic here. But holler if there's anything it can't do.

Happy to support a PR to add this behavior, especially if it is opt-in via the site's config to avoid surprises / breaking changes in functionality.

It only works on pages, not posts or collections.
