TX Not Connecting

When I follow all of the steps in the picture then try to connect, it opens the port but doesn't connect. I have set my COM port to 8, but 4 did the same thing. My baud rate is set at 112500 and I'm lost. I have an FTDI adapter and not one of those cables from Banggood. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

@budrow01 some clone FT232 chips are just not workings. A friend of mine have had same issue - he used other adapter and it works, additionally please ensure that ground is connected correctly.

Reversing the tx and rx wires worked for me.
