Big Sur Fix
The fix Copy the "SidecarCore.framework" folder from an older mac running Catalina. Then run the patch.
Good to know: You can't mount the filesystem the old way, new way found here: https://itectec.com/askdifferent/macos-can-i-mount-the-root-system-filesystem-as-writable-in-big-sur/
I used the same model MacBook for the copy, I'm not sure if it works with all copies.

Hi @eriknienhuis are you sure that copying the "SidecarCore.framework" from Catalina actually works on Big Sur? I get "A miscellaneous error occurred (4097)" prompt on two different unsupported Macs: MacPro6,1 and MacBookPro11,1 when trying to use Sidecar with supported iPad (7th Gen).
Sidecar preference panel is present, and iPad indeed shows on the list, but it's not possible to connect via USB or Wi-Fi. Icon on the Menu Bar also shows iPad, as well as window tooltip shows Move to iPad and inside the Displays preference panel iPad is present. But all these options result with "A miscellaneous error occurred (4097)" when trying to connect. I'm quite sure I patched everything correctly, mounted / copied files, signed, blessed, and added nvram boot-args.
Also worth mentioning is that Insert from iPhone or iPad feature stops working after copying the patched "SidecarCore.framework" from Catalina to Big Sur.

Are you using the same macbook with Catalina? Or is it some other macbook? I used the same macbook, maybe if you are using my files it’s not working…

Interesting. I used your files. I'll try to install Catalina and try again. Thanks.
/System/Library/dyld/dyld_shared_cache_xx could maybe be edited in the same way. It seams to contain the SideCarCore Framework. That would remove the need of file from Catalina.
Hi @eriknienhuis! I've followed your steps but unfortunately, I experienced the same error "A miscellaneous error occurred (4097)" as @ZenonBrak did. I tried this on MacBookPro11,3 and iPad Pro 10.5. I don't really know if I did wrong something. I guess I will stay on Catalina for now.
@eriknienhuis hello, good evening is it possible to provide a step here to help us. Big Sur, Macbook 8,1

@Teofilooliveira I wasn't really able to make Free Sidecar work on Big Sur. It worked fine on Catalina, but not on Big Sur. Then I moved to Monterey and used OpenCore Legacy Patcher. I hope this tip helps you, cheers.

it would be nice if it didn't break the FileVault.
@ZenonBrak hey bro thanks a lot for your attention. Cheers...
@ZenonBrak Is OpenCore Legacy Patcher running well? what is your mac?
