Name the field "citations" instead of "extra"

I think it would be better to have the field for showing the number of citations in a field called "citations" or something similar, instead of calling it "extra".

Isn't the fields fixed by the main application? No zotero plugin can create nor destroy the fields, only manipulate them (conservation of energy anyone?). Thus this plugin uses the extra field to store citation numbers. Not very nice isn't it?

Perhaps at least users could have a choice of the field to use, as the Extra field is populated by Zotero connector when retrieving items from some websites, such as arXiv.

I believe Zotero 5.0 allows extensions to create new fields.

I can't agree any more. such as "Call Number", "Count", "Genre". See also https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/64303/is-it-possible-to-add-extra-metadata-fields

PS:

  • Get number of citation through DOI, instead of TITLE, will be better. It will more accurate.

  • Add other search engines, for example, Bing Academic. See also https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/77638/citation-count/p1
