Can't retrieve citation numbers

Open leido opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

I followed the README install instructions for zotero standalone, but most papers don't show the citation number.

I saved most of my papers from arxiv.org.

I use firefox 49.0 and zotero standalone 4.29.0.10 under linuxmint 18.

This could be an issue with Google blocking the requests the plugin is sending. Try going https://scholar.google.com/ in a 'Private or 'incognito' window, and see if you are challenged by reCaptcha. if so, the program is working, but Google is blocking the automated request.

EDIT: I'm also using standalone on Mac, and when I get the reCaptcha, this plugin does not open a new windows for me to solve it. Does the program open a new window for you?

I have the same problem, and the Captcha did not show (Stand-alone version). I tried to navigate to google scholar in both Ingonito mode and via the browser in the stand-alone version, but none appear. I also installed it on another computer and it is still working fine. Do you have any idea to debug this problem?

The same for me. Google blocks it and I am not even able to export bibetex from google scholar as well. The result is the same after the Captcha. The message I got is:

Your client does not have permission to get URL /scholar.bib?q=info:JmnKBgM_caIJ:scholar.google.com/&output=citation&scisig=AAGBfm0AAAAAW2rfmMAz0IPoLsL3oRLPe37gMKtvL-Qu&scisf=4&ct=citation&cd=-1&hl=en from this server. (Client IP address: xxxxxxxxxxx) Please see Google's Terms of Service posted at http://www.google.com/terms_of_service.html That’s all we know.

It is a shame, because the plugin is awesome and I like it very much. Maybe a change of IP will suffice, or not to do more than 1 at a time.
