PDF lost with Fail error after hitting Run (big PDF file)

Desciription When I tried to run the tool with a big PDF file (1,8 GB) I got a Fail message and the PDF was deleted, I ended up with only a temp file with 0KB size. Works great with a part of this same PDF (first 10 pages).

To Reproduce

  1. Mode Single File
  2. Select file with Browse
  3. Zoom level = Inherit zoom
  4. Click Run

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Java version: java version "1.8.0_171"
  • PDF Zoom Wizard version: 0.5.0

Hey @lim-on-air,

Thanks for reporting this issue. Really weird that the PDF was deleted, this shouldn't happen!

The problem is that I cannot reproduce the error. Could you attach (or send me) the original PDF? Or at least re-run the Wizard and show me the log file?

Hi @beatngu13,

The file is really big (1,8 GB) so I don't want to send it for now. Attached is the log file. log.txt

I hope you can find something interesting in it... From what I saw all bookmarks are modified by the bookmark but then "INFO Wizard - Modified XX bookmark(s) in XXXXXX" is missing in the log.

Hmmm, the log doesn't say much. I will try to find a PDF of similar size, but if you find a way to provide me yours, that would also be helpful.

I'm afraid this is (again) caused by the underlying PDF lib I'm using, which is outdated and unmaintained. Really have to switch the implementation.

Strange, I tried on macos and the conversion went well... I will try to send you the file so you can investigate.

@lim-on-air it's been a while since you've sent me your PDF file. Unfortunately, I still cannot reproduce the error on macOS, everything's fine (tested with PDF Zoom Wizard v0.6.0).

Do you have access to another OS? Or is this issue obsolete?

@beatngu13 I haven't use pdf-zoom-wizard since summer 2020. I am not currently at work and don't have access to the file in question. I will test with last version and will get back to you asap.

By the way, the issue was on Windows and NOT on macOS.

@beatngu13 I tested today with v0.7.0, I get a failed when I try to runthe app. And the file was deleted (Copy was unchecked as I wanted to overwrite the original file). OS : Windows 10 Pro version 1903. Java 1.8.0_170

The file proceeds better under macOS, indeed (with java 1.8.0_101). But the inherit zoom is not applied :(
