Websockets for updates

Websockets should be used to push file change notifications to the client when there are changes made by a different client.

For example:

I have a desktop at home
I have a laptop that I take everywhere
My wife uploads pictures to the desktop while I'm on a business trip
I want to see these pictures because I'm lonely

When a file is uploaded to the server, all connected clients that are listening to this file should be notified and given the option to download it. Websockets should not be used to upload or download data, only for notifications.
