Feature request: status on dock icon

It'd be nice if CodeKit indicated what it's doing (watching, paused, success, error, processing/progress bar) directly on its Dock icon. I have honestly no idea what's possible, but since browsers have a progress bar for downloads, I assume at least that is possible.

The additional visual hint aside from the notifications would be nice. Heck, if that were available, I'd like to disable the pesky notifications entirely and rely solely on the dock icon.

CodeKit does indicate when file-watching is paused with a badge on the Dock icon. Animating icons in the dock and/or menubar is discouraged nowadays because it wastes battery life.

What about the progress bar? Would that be doable? Or does it fall under animations?

That would be animation. And only full builds have determinate progress. Single files are indeterminate—there’s no way to know how long they will take

And additional badges would be animation as well? Aw, too bad. 🤷

Well, I could do an additional badge, but I’m not sure how that would look.

Hmm... I think pretty much any icon in the "loading", or "transferring/transforming from one thing to another" theme would give the right idea.
