Step Parent Waiver Appeal Important: You can appeal to waive your step-parent’s fixed contribution if your parent has had a recent (within the past 5 years) marriage or common-law relationship with a step-parent, where the step-parent has not assumed financial responsibility for you and does not claim you as a dependent on their taxes.
Please indicate which parent should be waived from the application
☐ Parent 1 full name ☐ Parent 2 full name
Provide all of the following documents
- A letter which explains the circumstances that meet the appeal criteria (see above)
- Marriage certificate or CRA documentation showing start date of the common-law relationship
- All relevant supporting documentation to support circumstances outlined in letter. Separation agreement, divorce agreement, child support arrangements, pre-nuptial agreements or any other supporting documentation. "

Workflow changes
No camunda effort required Change the workflow logic in the following ways when approved Remove the parent completely from the assessment as if they don't exist. It is as if the student is deleted
Adding some notes here to see if we can work this into the parent tab as an exception on the main app to remove the need for the waived parent to input any information. This would avoid issues of having to determine after-the-fact which parent information needs to be removed from the calculation.
This ticket will need a major overhaul but will be kept as it still fit into the future and may be the first try appeal type in SIMS
REview approach exception vs appeal
@Joshua-Lakusta Removing these ACs for discussion about future functions
- [ ] This appeal option should only appear as a drop down option when the application is in completed status
- [ ] Make it so the room and board appeal also only appears as a drop down option when the application is in completed status
@Joshua-Lakusta @CarlyCotton - is there a reason why this is an appeal, rather than a Change Request?
@Joshua-Lakusta can we have the AC contents updated to display the appeal title as "Step parent waiver appeal" to follow the same format as "Room and board appeal"? @dheepak-aot FYI
@Joshua-Lakusta can you please add the "periods" for all the below sentences?
@andrewsignori-aot Both content updates complete in ac's.
The outcome of this appeal in the camunda workflow is having the appeal data with parent id which is selected to be waived.
This parent id can be correlated with parent1SupportingUserId and parent2SupportingUserId to identify if Parent1 or Parent2 is waived and must be excluded in workflow calculations.
@dheepak-aot i have added an ac to be specific of the content in the drop down as that was missing and it matches the title of the ticket. Also fixed the content on the one instance that was missing the hyphen. Thanks for your flexibility.
@Joshua-Lakusta, not part of the effort in this ticke,t but the supporting users must be adjusted also. @astridSABC FYI
