Same problem here, in some cases changing the code precludes the use of an earlier JVM. We'd need multiple versions - I'll have a closer look at this one, I find the amount of noise in the current 1.8 build distressing as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've managed to do most of the changes. I've still got a couple to go, haven't quite decided what's "best"... I'll expect this will get closed by the time 1.83 comes out.
