Perhaps this (and similar issues) can be tagged with "Good first issue" (or something like this)?
`comint` is pretty old and not without its limitations, so I'm not certain whether working in this direction is really worth it.
`company-mode` is mostly used as a global mode (`global-company-mode`), so I wouldn't recommend the current wording. (or we can have more examples)
