DS923+ 7.2.2u3 Failed to get IP after months of no issues
Description of the problem
NAS suddenly was not accessible over the network. Verified that activity lights were showing traffic yet the NAS was not pingable or reachable over the network. Message seen in /var/log/messages was 'ddnsd.c:2783 Failed to get External IP address'. A reboot of the NAS resolved this issue.

Interesting, I'm able to click on the link myself. I will reupload it here as well as messages log file showing the error.

The logs suggest that the device is completely frozen. If this problem occurs under heavy traffic, it could be a heat-related issue, so try placing the device in a well-ventilated area. Besides that, I can only suggest trying a different USB port or changing the Ethernet device's vendor to see if that resolves the issue.
Interesting. The device is mainly used for media consumption (Plex) and at the time it was hardly used. Its also in the basement where its relatively cool. What I didn't try was simply unplugging the usb ethernet and reinserting to see if that would clear it up (I opted for a NAS restart). I'll try the unplug/replug if it happens again. Since install its been rock solid so kind of odd to have it freeze up for no good reason. I see there is a newer driver available so I will install that now and keep an eye on it. Thanks
