Description of the problem
Hello, I got the same issue. But in my case the adapter worked like a charm for 1 month. after 1 restart it just jumped down from 2.5gbit down to 100mbit.

is not working.
I've deinstalled the driver, restarted, then installed the driver again, and restarted. still not working.
I've tried all USB-Ports... Still only 100Mbit.

Now I've tried all versions of driver... and different cables etc. nothing worked.
have you tried mapping a drive to PC and transfer files via SMB 3
have you tried mapping a drive to PC and transfer files via SMB 3
yeah. I really only got 11.7MB/s
When you check the link speed on the Mac (if connected directly) or on the switch (if through a switch), did you confirm that the link is actually at 100mbps? If so, is it possible to fix the link speed in the oncoming configuration?
Realtek devices do not seem to have the ability to fix the link speed to 2.5g.
The strange thing is that it worked perfectly for 1 month. Then I’ve restarted the synology… now its broke.
I agree it's a strange situation. It could be heat or some other hardware problem that has caused a change in timing or performance. We don't really know, but at least the possible workarounds are mentioned above.
After many tests, new cables etc. I've found out cable length is a big issue. Over 5m does not support higher speeds...
Are you talking about USB cables? Indeed, by standard, USB 3 does not support cables longer than 3 meters.
Ethernet cable. If I’m using a more than 5m long ethermet cable its not working. Ive tried 5e and cat 7 cables…
Oh, you were talking about Ethernet cables.
Cat7 is a scam and many cables are of low quality, so it is still not surprising to see such a result. By standards, MultiGiga should support Cat5e and work well, but Cat5e was not originally designed for MultiGiga, so that may be the case. I updated Troubleshooting about this topic.
I would expect a little better results with Cat6A cables.
I will leave this Issue Open as is, but please close it if your problem is completely resolved and you won't do any additional experimentation.
In my case, the strange thing is: It worked for over 2 Month with those Cat7 calbes... Now I'm using a 3m Cat7 Cable, same brand like the longer ones... and it works.
Synology 916+ (DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4) Driver: 2.15.0-10 Hot Swap not working.
I'll try with another Cat6a cable.
I would like to close this issue since there has been no response. If you have any questions, feel free to re-open it.
