Compatibility question: JPype version for JayDeBeApi 1.2.3
I am planning to use JayDeBeApi 1.2.3 in a project with Python 3.x, and I want to ensure compatibility with JPype.
Could you please confirm which JPype versions are officially supported or recommended to use with JayDeBeApi 1.2.3? Are the latest JPype versions (e.g., 1.6.x) compatible, or should we stick to older versions like 0.7.5?
Thank you for your guidance!
Jpype 1.6.0 on only support Java 11 and up. 0.7.5 won't support after Python 11(?). If for some reason you need java 1.8 the 1.5.x is best.
No, I don't need older Java versions like 1.8. Anyway, Java is not the issue here.
I am planning to use the latest JayDeBeApi version (1.2.3). But, as stated in the documentation, the latest JPype version tested with JayDeBeApi was 0.7.5. Therefore, I am wondering whether I can use JayDeBeApi 1.2.3 with newer JPype versions such as 1.6.x.
There is java dbapi2 that ships with jpype as an alternative. Jaydebeapi is for compatibility with jython and cpython. Though i believe it still runs with 1.5.2 and likely 1.6.0. Very little has changed in the jpype api in years. It is more about providing for new cpython versions.
Jpype dbapi2 is not a drop in replacement for jaybede through as it was geared for exposing conpatable java objects as wrappers. You may want to review which is best for your needs before a new start.
