DW1830 Issues & Big Thanks!

Open flagator62 opened this issue 5 years ago • 9 comments

First of all, thank you for all the work you've done on this.

I'm using your EFI and instructions verbatim on a dual-boot XPS 15 9570 with the following specs:

  • i5-8300H 8th gen Coffee Lake
  • UHD 630
  • FHD (1920x1080) display
  • 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4, 2666MHz, Samsung SO-DIMM
  • 500GB NVME Samsung 970EVO (Catalina)
  • 500GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD (Windows 10 Pro)
  • DW1830 WiFi BT with latest Dell drivers installed in Win 10 Pro.
  • Realtek Audio ALC3266-CG (similar to ALC298)

Everything seems to be working great except for WiFi / BT issues I'm hoping you'll be able to make sense of.

In Catalina, System Information shows 802.11n connecting to 5GHz network and 802.11ac connecting to 2.4GHz network. In Windows 10, it's correct, 802.11n connects to 2.4GHz network and 802.11ac connects to 5GHz network.

In Windows 10, the BT works perfect. In Catalina, the BT struggles to detect any BT devices and won't stay connected to BT devices it does detect (rapidly connects then disconnects repeatedly).

Any ideas?

Thanks again,

Dan

Update: The WiFi issue is resolved but still can't figure out how to get BT working correctly. If you can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

I had this issue and took about 1.5 weeks to get sorted out: in your EFI Clover Kexts- > be sure BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext, BrcmBluetoothInjector, and BrcmPatchRam3 are in the Other folder.

The Big change is to also add into the Library/Extensions folder BrcmFirmwareRepo and BrcmPatchRam3 kexts.

This will allow your Bluetooth to load the current bluetooth firmware.

If you look under About this Mac -> System Report -> Bluetooth Firmware: if it says 4096- it didn't load the firmware.

Start again, and be sure to complete reset your permissions and rebuild kexts.

TERMINAL: sudo kextcache -I/ and then add your desktop password. Once it completes, then reboot.

That ought to restore your bluetooth with Catalina and later versions of Mojave.

CAUTION:I updated to Clover 5098 and the latest kexts: AirportBcrmFixup, AppleALC, Lilu, VirtualSMC, WhateverGreen and then got the BT NOT available.

Since I didn't see any notes about this, I used Time Machine to restore before the updates. Still didn't work!

Restalled Bavariancake's EFI and BT returned.

Lesson: not sure which updated kext broke the BT: #IfAintBrokeDontFixIt

I guess I couldn't leave well-enough alone- it's the updated Lilu kext that breaks BT: stay on version 1.3.8. The latest version 1.3.9 breaks it. The rest of the updated kexts work just fine.

curiously, my BT v5 4518, but DISCOVERABLE: NO.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

No help here, I'm sorry. I wound up back at Mojave with a different EFI (lulettersoul) and still had to completely erase both SSD's and start over before BT worked correctly.

My Catalina Hackintosh was beginning to run so sluggish that I bit the bullet and went back to Mojave. Works now, but still says: Discoverable: NO.

My latest stable BT: C/K/O: BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5, BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareRepo 2.3.0d3 + L/E: BrcmFirmwareRepo 2.3.0d3, BrcmPatchRam3 2.3.0d3.

I tried various combinations and none of them worked:

C/K/O: BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5, BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareData 2.5, L/E: none: no BT

C/K/O: BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5, BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareRepo 2.3.0d3; L/E none: no BT

C/K/O: BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5, BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareData 2.5, L/E: BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareData 2.5: no BT

C/K/O: BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5, BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareRepo 2.3.0d3; L/E BrcmPatchRam3 2.5, BrcmFirmwareData 2.5: no BT

updated: Clover 5099, kexts: AppleALC 1.4.4, Lulu 1.4.0, NoTouch 1.0.3, VoodooPS2Controller 2.1.0, WhateverGreen 1.3.5: still working well.

I'm on Catalina, was having this same issue. I removed all 3rd party kexts from my L/E except for

BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5.5 BrcmPatchRam3 2.5.5 BrcmFirmwareData 2.5.5 BrcmPatchRam3 2.5.5, BrcmFirmwareRepo 2.5.10

and my BT is finally working again. I also have CPUFriend 1.2.1 and Lilu 1.4.6, because my Laptop is running hot again, but my BT works!!

In my EFI I have BrcmBluetoothInjector 2.5.5, BrcmPatchData3 2.5.5, BrcmFirmwareData 2.5.5 L/E: BrcmPatchRam3 2.5. Hopefully that helps.
