Does this tutorial work for 7590?
Thanks very much!
If somebody try that please let us know here. 🙂
Well I tried, It works but not with the sk hynix ssd, still there are some issues with the sleep or deep sleep, and I'm trying to resolve them. Will update you after.
Not sure about the 9570, but did you make sure to format your Hynix to use 4k sectors in Ubuntu? I've had to do it with both my SK Hynix and my Samsung 970 Evo Plus. https://youtu.be/qV3OSPREXQY?t=744
4k sectors in Ubuntu is not working for sk Hynix PC601 SSD 512GB (came with dell XPS 15 7590 (2019))
I just looked at mine, it's a PC401 that came with my 9570. I upgraded it because it was slow, so I got the Samsung (see above) the samsung is still much faster, but the latest firmware really stifled the speeds to make it compatible with MacOS. Anyway, If i were you, i'd grab a samsung.
Yes, at the end. I bought 970 pro. Its working super fine.
I've done a test installation on 7590 to test the waters, here are my findings so far:
- Sleep doesn't work (it does sleep but doesn't wake up)
- Trackpad doesn't work at all (I finished the installation with a Magic Trackpad)
- Internal display turns off and doesn't come back on after trying to use DisplayPort (only 1 monitor)
- The Intel Pro 7600p (looks like an OEM version of the 760p?) seems to work fine (no stability issues so far), even though it only supports 512B and cannot be switched to 4096B
- Microphone connected via the headphone jack is not detected and thus do not work
Everything else seem to well so far, including, but not limited to:
- DW1830 (BT+WIFI)
- Internal display (1080p panel so no hi-dpi required)
- HDMI (sans audio)
- Battery stats
- Audio (sans the headphone mic)
Does anybody know if NVMe Micron 2200S NVM is supported?
In BIOS setup, does it make any difference to select between AHCI or Raid On?
In BIOS setup, does it make any difference to select between
AHCIorRaid On?
You must switch to AHCI because no operating systems other than Microsoft Windows will be able to use any disks (including the nvme one) if you use the default "Raid On".
@49616e Thanks for your information.
- When I set to
AHCI, I can't even see installation screen, stuck at kernel panic. - When I set to
Raid On, I can see the installation screen, but my SDD doesn't appear on Disk Utility.
It is not possible to use Raid On with anything other than Windows. Even Linux can't see the nvme drive if I left it in that mode. If you're getting a KP, then the SSD you got might be somewhat problematic. Try this list if you're interested in getting a new drive: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000006273/memory-and-storage.html
So far my 7600p works pretty well, even though its LBA size is 512B and cannot be switched to 4096B. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think 4096B matters much less on Mojave and later versions than before.
Hi, I successfully built a Hackintosh on my XPS 15 7950 UHD and it works really smooth! I only used the Bavariancake EFI and his instructions and I am really satisfied! What's not working:
Audio is seldom broken, but after reboot it is working again.
Card-Reader.
Sometimes it doesn't wake up after sleep, if it does it can take some time to start.
NVidia-GC (only on Windows)
HDMI-Audio (but only Audio, Video is perfect)
WiFi&Bluetooth (Just ordered a new Card to replace the (imho rather crappy) Killer one) (in the meantime I'm HoRNDIS with my Android-Phone)
I had to create a custom Boot-Entry in the UEFI-Settings, bc the automatically created one did not boot into Clover but into some Dell-Recovery-System. This took me some time to figure out! Touchscreen is great! I have a Toshiba NVMe and everything worked with 4k sectors as described.
can u share your EFI with me i have try many efi but it's working it's reboot only not working
I created a fork of @bavariancake 's EFI and uploaded my changes: https://github.com/timethy96/XPS7590-macOS Please be caucious, while the EFI should be up-to-date with mine, there are still many things to be adapted on the fork's instructions.
I've tried with my XPS 15 7590 all EFI's out there with no luck I guess because of the SK Hynix PC601 SSD 512GB is include in my specs.
Kernel panic during os installation hopefully I'll find the way to patch it or I would have to buy a known compatible ssd.
@borjatur do you finally get the Hynix PC601 working? These days I have made some progress on the PC601 Kernel Panic. I use a ACPI patch to disable the default IONvmeFamily.kext, and then the initialization of clover can be finished without a Kernel Panic. But unfortunately in the disk utility PC601 does not apper ... any ideas?
hi, no I couldn't make it works and finally decided to switch the ssd for a compatible one. After that I managed to install mac os without any issues, sorry but no idea about what to do after a lot of reading I noticed that some hardware is not compatible and that's all
@zhangzh18 how did you disable IONvmeFamily? I've tried with the SSDT modification and it doesn't appear to have an affect.

hi, sorry not to reply in time... I used an acpi patch to disable the Apple's Nvme kext, the information can be found in this link below: https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312803-patch-for-using-nvme-under-macos-sierra-is-ready/?page=29#entry2322636 and(in Chinese) : http://bbs.pcbeta.com/viewthread-1728092-1-1.html
You should modified the SSDT patch according to your device,
