Zigbee lights (group) automatically turn on or error into flickering mode
Version information:
HA: 2022.7.7 Adaptive Lightning: 1.0.15 Zigbee: ZHA Lights: eWeLight ZB-CL01 > 3 the same bulbs grouped
Description:
- When AL is enabled the lights randomly turn on (no trigger mentioned in the logs).
- Also, on rare occasions when turned off they to not turn off but get into some kind of error state in that they flicker really fast on low light.
I have the same configuration with 3 IKEA GU10 spots and with these I experience no errors at all.
All bulbs are GU10 type.
I have the exact same issue with all of my Philips Hue lights - wether light strips. E10 or E14 bulbs. This only occurs when ZHA is in use, using the deconz add-on results in no error. Removing the lights from the adaptive lighting configuration resolves the problem temporarily.
HA: 2022.8.5 Adaptive Lighting: 1.0.15 Zigbee: ZHA Lights: Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance E27, Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance E10, Philips Hue White & Color Ambiance Light Strip, ...
Similar issue here: I’d try to turn off my zigbee lights for bed time, and then they would immediately turn back on.
The history log said it was from the light.turn_off service, but it didn’t happen anymore once I disabled the adaptive lighting integration
I think that Zigbee groups are never going to work reliably with adaptive lighting. I would recommend using Home Assistant light groups, these are properly expand it into separate lights.
I have some light zigbee merged at group in homeassistant but have same problem.

@bartlebi, do you mean they flicker or turn on automatically?
The problem is just much more likely to occur with Zigbee groups than Home Assistant groups.
I will write down the technical reason for that somewhere when I have more time.
Sometime they start flickering turning off. Sometime they turns on after 5-30 seconds - randomly.. I have to turn it on and off again. As i can see status of the group in ha will not change before all of lights in this group will not swiched off.
Side note here. I've added a 1 second adapt_delay and since then didn't encounter this issue anymore. Of course it's less neat since you need to wait and then see the transition after turning on the light but it does help. This also made me think that it might be an issue with events firing to rapidly.
I have added a delay to every integration before, but this did not fundamentally solve the problem. Some lights are still on. By the way, those that flicker after turning off a little later usually turn off by themselves (with a delay of 10-20 seconds). That is, I press turn off the light, it dims a little and starts to flicker and turns off after 10-20 seconds. This can happen to one or all of the lamps in the group. In this case, the lamps that did not start flashing usually remain on until I repeat the on and off. And after N attempts, the light will finally be turned off. Or I have to find a specific lamp in the group and turn it off manually in HA.
I only use HA groups and still have lights randomly turn on.
I had this problem with ZHA, I switched to Z2M and I have no issues anymore. I'm using Zigbee groups for all my adaptive lighting groups.
