Qutebrowser video player fullscreen freezing

Effect: When changing browser video player between fullscreen and "normal", the screen freezes but the video audio keeps playing. To "unfreeze" the screen, I switch to a different workspace and then switch back, at which point the video is playing perfectly in fullscreen as expected. (It is quite bizzare.)

To recreate:

• qutebrowser with default QtWebEngine and default settings
• Xorg on linux with default settings
• Navigate to a video streaming/playing website (youtube, odysee, etc) and make the video player fullscreen while playing the video

(To clarify, I do not know if Xorg, bspwm or qutebrowser is the problem. I suspect bspwm because of the "switch workspaces quickly" fix.)

UPDATE: mpv is now also freezing when fullscreen is toggled on or off. The fix is the same; just quickly switch workspaces. I am using fully up-to-date Gentoo Linux on a T500 Thinkpad

anecdotally, i have never had this happen and use qutebrowser frequently.

possibly a graphics driver issue?

I have used qutebrowser for almost 3 years and I have never had this problem.
