host shows OFFLINE with correct mac and ip

host is mac monterey. the ip and mac addresses are set correctly (?). I can ping the ip and connect with vnc but WOL shows host as being offline.

Can someone please explain this?

Sounds like DNS not resolving the IP to me. Can you ping the Mac's hostname? I think WOL tries the host name, resolving to an IP which is then pinged to get an indication of the host being live or not.
