WOL packet not being sent

Open madbrain76 opened this issue 3 years ago • 0 comments

I have two Windows systems and a Linux system. The Linux one is a NAS and setup for WOL. The first Windows system can wake up the NAS using your Wake On LAN program successfully. The second Windows system cannot. I believe the packet simply isn't going out on the network. I use the exact same settings in your program on both systems. The command-line version also fails to wake up the NAS.

What's odd is that if I use Wolcmd.exe from depicus on that second Windows system, the WOL packet goes out fine, and the NAS wakes up. wolcmd.exe is a very old win32 program dated 2005.

I believe there must be some sort of Windows firewall issue somehow blocking your program on that one system, but I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I read all your troubleshooting pages to see if you had any info about what firewall settings might need to change before filing this issue.

Uninstalling/reinstalling your program also didn't fix the problem. I didn't get prompted by Windows firewall to allow/disallow your program to communicate.
