Working on remote VM

In vscode it's possible to connect to a remote machine via SSH to run commands edit files etc. This requires no additional setup or installation on the remote machine other than ssh. How can I achieve the same effect as vscode without having to install neovim zellij etc on the remote and copy configuration over.

PS: I don't think this is the correct place to ask this question. But my fat fingers on gh-mobile created this issue and I can't find a way to delete it.

Use scp. If you need to edit the file, use it with (n)vim.

neovim really is an excellent choice for remote editing.
