Can we have a config setting to configure the focus borders on windows?

Open ainslec opened this issue 3 months ago • 2 comments

Hello,

Omarchy 2.0 user here and I'm loving the experience in general. One thing that does kind of bother me in terms of OCD is the bright borders on the focused (or active) window. Overall, I think it's a bit distracting, but especially distracting if there is just one window visible - it is in fact redundant.

I know you can't please all the people all the time, but I'd kill for an official setting in the menus to tweak this behaviour. I know Omarchy is opinioned so keep your opinions, but please give us a way to have tiny little variations.

The borders are searing my eyes!

Thanks,

Chris

Have you tried to add a config file yourself for look n feel?

We can't know for sure if this will be added for everyone, but then you could at least adapt it for yourself :)

If you want a super quick and dirty fix, then add

general { border_size = 0 }

To the end of your hyprland.conf file. "0" disables the border - the higher the number, the thicker the border. You find the conf file here

If you want to do it the proper way, you should make a new looknfeel.conf and source it like the other .conf files.

Yeah, you can alter whatever general setting you want in .config/hypr/hyprland.conf

I tried this myself and it didn't work I ended up editing ~/.config/omarchy/current/theme/hyprland.conf All of the other conf files like the ones in ~/.local/share/omarchy/default/hypr and other places... They didn't weren't helpful when it came to changing the color of the active border So you either have to delete the configs in that specific file or move your styles to that file

Editing ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf worked for me.

I added the following to adjust border and gaps as per my liking. It includes a setting to the OP original concern

(border) especially distracting if there is just one window visible - it is in fact redundant.

windowrulev2 = noborder,fullscreen:1 # no border for fullscreen windows . What the OP was refering to
general {
   border_size = 1
   gaps_out = 0 # no gap between window and monitor
   gaps_in = 2 ## gap between different windows
   col.inactive_border = rgba(89,89,89,0.05) # barely visible border
   col.active_border = rgba(33ccff33) rgba(00ff9933) 45deg # quite faint  border on active window
}

Perfect ! I got these settings from ~/.local/share/omarchy/default/hypr/looknfeel.conf , Also see: https://wiki.hypr.land/Configuring/Variables/#general
