I have the situation where at night the temperature is high, so i am in "summer mode" AND i have "transparent blind". So the integration closes the blinds, which is not necessary when there is no sun in front of the window.

Describe the solution you'd like

First check "sun in front of window and elevation > 0" THEN "check presence"

Describe alternatives you've considered

I now switch between "no occupants" and "occupants" depending on "temperature".

Additional context

I can help to change the code, but would like some feedback first

Hello,

I'm taking advantage of your suggestion to ask you what you think the exact meaning of "Transparent blind" is. I think it means "do not take into account the calculation of the shutter position." What do you think? Currently, I use it in Presence mode to switch to Summer mode if it gets too hot in the room.

This integration is so complex and confusing that I decided to publish a tutorial (in French) with an English translation on how to use Adaptive Cover in the best possible way while waiting for @basbruss to release an update. I started with the simple Basic mode to understand the main parameters and their interactions, and I'm gradually adding more features, particularly weather data, to better use the Climate mode. Currently, the French version is the most complete, and I need to update the English version. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/adaptive-cover-in-degraded-mode-waiting-for-some-upgrade-i/868605 Kind regards,

What I think "transparent blinds" mean, is that there are two types of shutters:

  1. fully darkening, and

  2. transparent.

When you lower transparent blinds, your room still gets enough natural light, so you don't need to turn on the lights.

This distinction becomes important when trying to keep the room cool by lowering the blinds. If the blinds are transparent, you can lower them all the way (0%) without making the room too dark. However, if the blinds are not transparent, lowering them completely would block out all the light, forcing you to use artificial lighting during the day — which is not ideal.

I don't have blinds yet (but I will be setting this up soon, hence me being here in the first place!), so take this with a grain of salt because I can't experiment, but what are you using for the "Default position" and "Default position after Sunset" values? It seems like the "default position" would open the blinds (if set to 0% coverage) if there is no sun shining on the window, and would also open the blinds after sunset if you so desired. Or am I misunderstanding what you're trying to accomplish?
