Could not join "wifi-name-here" The network could not be found.
All seemed to go well apart from this resulting issue.
Yes, the new WiFi patch that was introduced in v0.1.0 (and still used in v0.2.0) still has some problems. It's one of several problems with the patcher that I need to address, and that I hope I will be able to address in the near future.
Does this always happen, or only sometimes? Aside from that piece of information, this is a more specific report than some others that I've received lately, so thank you.
For me it happens whenever I wake up Mac back from sleep. Then I toggle off and on WiFi from system preferences and select my WiFi network, then it works.
@sahaib Thanks for the info!
I have to do a reboot to get back to it appearing to work or allow me to ...
1/ Select any WIFI 2/ Put in the password 3/ It locks out as per my post above, for all WIFI's
Toggle off and on WiFi does not change for my system :-(
Then I have to reboot again, only to get the same error.
Try the v0.2.1 prerelease tree -- go to that link, click Code then Download ZIP, unzip it, plug in your installer USB, run unpatch.sh, run micropatcher.sh, then run patch-kexts.sh to install the updated WiFi patch. (If patch-kexts.sh tells you that you need to boot from the EFI Boot partition of the USB stick again, that's probably a bug in patch-kexts.sh, and I'll try to fix it in v0.2.2 or so, but for now the workaround is to boot from the USB before running patch-kexts.sh.)
User feedback so far is that v0.2.1 in its current state completely breaks WiFi on 2011 iMacs but otherwise seems to be a significant improvement. I'm currently planning to release v0.2.1 later this weekend (and I think I should be able to fix the 2011 iMac problem before release).
@barrykn Does this patch also fixes AirDrop?
Everyone who's tried it so far tells me it fixes AirDrop (and makes WiFi more stable overall).
However, between feedback on the MacRumors Forum, feedback on Discord, and my own testing, I can confirm that this particular issue is not fixed.
Soon after v0.2.1 I'll probably go to separate WiFi patches for 2012-2013 and <=2011, and that might make further improvements easier.
@barrykn thanks for confirming that. I'll try and confirm as well. Will be waiting for the further patch though.
@sahaib My current plan is that v0.2.2 (hopefully today or tomorrow) will not have any additional WiFi changes, but sometime after that I'll try again to improve WiFi.

@barrykn I tried out v0.2.1. It isn't working with WiFi-Sleep disconnection. AirDrop is working.
Some people are apparently still having this issue, at least with 2012/2013 Macs, with beta 9. I just realized I forgot to record that here earlier.
~~Mentioning 2012/2013 in the name of this issue because, for 2011 (and older) Macs, this issue (if it is still happening with beta 9) is likely to need a different fix and should be tracked as a different issue.~~ I was working on WiFi patch development last night, and at least for any patch that's likely in the near term, this is actually not the case.
So, I'm unable to reproduce this on beta 9. I'd appreciate hearing from any of the commenters on this issue, to know whether you're still having this issue (or any WiFi issues really) on beta 9.
I don't know if I should open a new issue or add to this, but my MacbookPro10,1 can connect just fine to normal Wi-Fi networks, but:
- I cannot connect to iPhone hotspot via Hand-off, I have to manually open Settings -> Hotspot on iPhone and then navigate to System Preferences -> Network and select the Wi-Fi network from there.
- When AirPlay mirroring the whole system to an AppleTV3,2, the connection stutters and isn't consistent. The audio is stuttering as well, making the viewing experience unpleasant. (Both devices are connected through a 5GHz connection)
Later edit:
3. Parallels Desktop networking does not work at all. No matter what settings I choose. -- Parallels is up to date to the latest version that supports macOS Big Sur
@eduard-comanici I think your problems might be a little different than this problem, so I've opened issue #65 for them.
Is anyone still having this exact problem:
Could not join "wifi-name-here" The network could not be found.
with beta 10 or 11.0.1 beta 1?

After Wake I can't connect to any Network, and after Reboot it won't show any Networks. Wifi is active. 11.3.1
Try running this in terminal:
pmset -a network oversleep 1
Try running this in terminal:
pmset -a network oversleep 1
Thank you for the reply.
this command resulted in this
"pmset -a network oversleep 1
Usage: pmset
Now it connects but only to visible Wifi networks. Is there a way to fix connecting to invisible SSID?
