Mac Pro 5.1 HDMI Audio

Open fpuigb opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

I'm using your patcher in a Mac Pro 5.1 (2012) with a Nvidia GTX 680 video card but the HDMI audio doesn't work. I have tried multiple ways to get it working but still no go. Would you mind embedding a fix for this in your code? All other components works without issues.

It would be nice to know which additional extension or which fix will be needed to get this done.

I have hdmi audio working with my gtx 760 on Mojave using the HDMIAudio kext, but I'm not sure if it would work on macOS Big Sur. Might be worth trying. If I get a chance to try it on Big Sur, I will

This is quite simple:

  1. call the /Volumes/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur/remount-sysvol.sh script on the micropatcher USB from a terminal
  2. copy manually the HDMIAudio.kext to /Library/Extensions (at least there it has been placed
  3. enter “$REBUILD_KC" within the same terminal window
  4. Reboot and check

If this works please let me know and send over the working extension, I found one here: https://www.hackintosh-forum.de/attachment/68479-hdmiaudio-kext-zip/

I will add the extension to the micropatcher and add the installation as an option to the MacPro5.1

HDMIAudio.kext.zip I've tested it, and it worked. Why only the 5,1 though? It works on the 3,1 through the 5,1

Thanks!

Added this to both for MacPro 3,x and 5,x in the dev-v0.5.4 version a few seconds ago!
