patch-kexts.sh giving error
csr-active-config appears to be set incorrectly csr-active-config w%00%00%00
is there any steps I can do - I had a successful installation for macos Bis sur and struggling to setup the Wi-Fi
I have Macbook pro early 2011 and installing latest version and not Beta
Kind regards Mohamed Hussein
Repeat step 9 from the README (booting the "EFI Boot" partition of the patched installer USB stick), then try patch-kexts.sh again and see if it still fails or if it works (and please let me know the outcome, either way).
Hi Barrykn,
It is now installed successfully and I made restart but still do not have WIFI netweork .
This may seem like a strange question, but do brightness control or sound work? (This will help me determine where the problem is.)
No they are not working

What screen size (13", 15", or 17")? The 15"/17" have considerably different hardware from the 13", which is why I need this information.
My screen size is standard 13

Thank you.
Is this a fresh installation, an upgrade from a Big Sur beta, or an upgrade from a previous version of macOS?
Oh, one more suggestion: Try booting from the patched installer USB and try running patch-kexts.sh from there, and see if that works.
Upgrade from Catalina
the patch is not making any changes - any other suggetions

What patcher did you use to install Catalina?
Also, if you could include a screenshot or photo of the Terminal window after patch-kexts.sh
finishes running, that would be very very helpful!
Done and waiting the next step - also my recovery USB is not working now as well - so please direct me if any steps can be done to sort my problem
Whoa. That was not at all what I was expecting, and I should've asked for those screenshots much earlier. Sorry about that. (I'm in the process of writing a more detailed response.)
Since you did an upgrade, hopefully you still have the patcher on your system. Try running it again to re-patch the USB drive (and provide a screenshot of the Terminal window afterward, so I can see if anything is going wrong with that).
This is what I am receiving now Because lack of internet I can not run the patcher as it needs internet access to operate (I tried and it fails) and suggestion to create the usb offline?

I don't recall adding such a message to my patcher, and I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work offline. Would you mind providing a screenshot of that message?

This is what I see at my end. (Your previous screenshots came through properly, however. I think, when you're adding a screenshot to the comment, you need to wait for the "Uploading..." to become something else -- something like "Screen Shot..." if I remember correctly -- before you click "Comment".)
I tried to upload photo from my phone but it was not working - here I am uploading it from my other laptop
Oh, that's Patched Sur (by @BenSova), not my Big Sur Micropatcher. I haven't had a chance to try Patched Sur myself yet, so I'm not familiar enough with it to know what's going wrong.
I do see a bug in my patch-kexts.sh that I need to fix, so I'll try to do that fix this weekend (or sometime next week otherwise). (This bug did not cause any of your problems, but fixing it might make troubleshooting easier for other users in the future.)
(I'll respond with some more information in a bit.)
Oh, in the meantime, I'd like to know whether your other laptop is a Mac (Edit: Also, whether it's running macOS). I'd also like to know whether you have a backup (preferably with Time Machine, but something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper is basically OK too) of Catalina before you did the upgrade to Big Sur.
It is an original Mac and I didn’t do time machine before upgrade
Unfortunately, it is going to take me a while to figure out how to proceed.
There may be files stored in the ~/.patched_sur
directory which may be what we need in order to fix things, but I don't know Patched Sur well enough (yet) to be more specific than that.

I've fixed this bug now, and the fix will be in Big Sur Micropatcher v0.5.2. I'll probably release it later today (or maybe tomorrow) -- I just need to test it more first. (This doesn't relate directly to fixing your problem, but it's sort-of related.)
Ok I will wait for your confirmation to start test 👍🏻
any update on Big Sur Micropatcher v0.5.2 ?
FYI :https://www.iclarified.com/78559/warning-macos-big-sur-update-is-bricking-some-older-macs
I guess apple will release a new update to fix these bugs highlighted in this link.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. That bricking issue won't affect 2011 Macs. (I should dig into the Big Sur installer and see if 2012/2013 Macs could be at risk. Ideally I should do it before releasing v0.5.2, so I can add a warning if necessary.)
