Refresh Traffic Layer

There doesn't seem to be any way to refresh without losing context. For example, I searched for a route from one place to another, then checked the box for traffic. It showed me a bunch of traffic (not unusual for where I live). But how do I update the traffic? Turning it off and turning it back on just brings back the same stale traffic info (I tried 12 hours later, so I know it was stale). Clicking refresh in my browser (Firefox) loses my route, not to mention the traffic. The only way I've found to really refresh the traffic is to pan the view so that my route is off-screen, then pan back.
