RFC 3597 clarifies how to handle unknown record type. Currently I just discard those.

I think there are three things needed here:

  • [ ] Preserve character case of domain names (but keep the case insensitive comparison)
  • [ ] Add a new record type for unallocated numbers <128 or >32767, which copies RDATA unchanged
  • [ ] Add support for the \# <len> [<rdata>] RDATA zone file syntax (the TYPE<n> and CLASS<n> syntax is already supported)
