Rolled, rdiff'd backups
I'm currently using a different script for backups, but looking at the mark2 options, here's what I see:
- TARing regions might have an increase in filesize, since regions are already compressed
- Taking a full backup of each version takes more space than an rdiff (incremental) backup
- The lack of rolling (e.g. deleting backups over an age or size limit) is somewhat disheartening, especially considering the rolling options for logfiles
If mark2 had a rdiff'd and rolled backup system, with settings for full backups and incremental backups, that would be a killer feature for some users.
For even more fun, a ~restore would be cool.
I think the better option here would be to allow people to change the default commands for backup/restore. Keep a sane default and allow admins to adjust it to whatever method they prefer.
:+1: This should definitely be included. perfect for lobby servers and/or servers that need specific region files to be restored after every reboot.
