If you think about it, inside the computer there is really not much difference between `a/b/c.d` and `a-b-c.d`. Reorganizing the repo wouldn't be difficult, but would require compensatory boring/trivial modification...
I think it's fixed in a Debian patch which basically uses `"%s" foo` instead of just `foo` as a format string.
